Sugarcane growing is one of the leading livelihoods in CAEVA Uganda’s area of operation. Eating of sugarcane and poor oral hygiene has led to an increase in oral health challenges such as tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath, pain, discomfort, disfigurement, etc. To prevent these, CAEVA not only carries out sensitisation on good oral health practices mainly in primary schools but also liaises with dental service providers to provide treatment. On a couple of times the organisation has partnered with Hope Smiles to provide this service.
